Media Temperature

As a general rule the solubility of any tablet will increase linearly with temperature. This may or may not be significant depending on the type of tablet used. For the most extreme cases this could be as much as 5% per °C. The temperature should be measured at intervals throughout the dissolution test. Typically it is measured when the sample is taken. Care should be taken when using plastic vessels as the heat transfer can be very poor compared to glass and sometimes it is necessary to have the temperature of the bath 2-3°C above the temperature required in the flasks. The use of vessel covers provides extra stability.
